Paul Goodison is a World number one Laser sailor, an Olympic Gold medallist, European and British Champion. The Laser is one of the two single handed dinghies which are sailed at the Olympics by men, the second being the Finn dinghy which triple Olympic Gold medallist Ben Ainslie now sails. Ben was an inspiration to Paul whilst he was growing up but soon the pair became friends and rivals.

I'm originally from Cambridge but moved to Poole in September to study a Multimedia Journalism degree at Bournemouth University. I'm 18 and in my first year, so I'm battling through the first term at the moment! I'm new to the Dorset area so it is a big change for me from 180 miles away in Cambridge.

Saskia Clark is an experienced member of the British sailing team who has competed in the international 470 class for over six years. Her previous 470 team was positioned at the top of the world rankings for over a year resulting in selection for Team GB and a credible 6th place finish at the Beijing Olympic Games. Now based in Weymouth, Saskia has teamed up with double Olympic champion, Sarah Ayton for their London 2012 campaign.

We run a small, genuinely mixed farm at Milton Abbas with rare breed chickens, pigs and Portland Sheep, some guinea fowl and turkeys. We also grow and trade in local veg. Steve has had many years of agricultural experience. No week is the same, and I am enjoying the steep learning curve!

Kit Glaisyer is a highly respected Artist based in Bridport, West Dorset. In 1999 he set up studios in a former rope-making factory on the St Michael's Trading Estate in the heart of the town. The St Michael's Studios complex now stands at the forefront of the vibrant Bridport Art Scene, and has grown to become a popular and nationally renowned arts venue, providing studios for 25 artists and holding quarterly Open events. I started my own shoe business, Yull, in March 2011 which is stocked in Well Heeled, Wimborne. Yull puts the style back into any step. Each design has been inspired by a British place or pastime and is emblazoned with a small Union Jack flag on its base. I will be blogging about Great British style, centered around Dorset. I will look at the style of great British events and places and comment on current trends and the history of relevant styles. After all, Yull is ‘style over fashion'

Chatter about life setting up and running an organic farming business in Dorset. Andrew, Claire, their two children, a cat and a dog moved here in September 2007 taking on a tenancy at Rempstone Farm on the Isle of Purbeck. We set up the farm from scratch, Andrew having managed farms for years beforehand, but this is different, we saved 20 years for this...this is ours! We have our ups and downs but hey - its is all worth it and all in one of the most beautiful places in the world!

John Gilmour is a school teacher living in Swanage whose sanity is maintained by volunteering on the crew of Swanage lifeboat. John joined the crew in January 2001 and, over the last 10 years, has made his way up through the ranks to become Deputy Second Coxswain. He describes himself as a Yorkshire man to the bones but, after 10 years in Dorset, has no plans to move back North. A sailor at heart, he has a passion for family, the ocean, watersports and making journeys under his own steam

Annette fell in love with Thomas Hardy at a high school in Manchester. Some 30 years later she moved nearer to Egdon Heath. Working as a freelance writer and PR consultant she's always out and about in Dorset and currently having fun county-wide, field testing the The Times lunch voucher scheme.

Charles Elder is an American who would rather live nowhere else in the world than in Dorset. He was brought up in Kansas (home of Dorothy from the 'Wizard of Oz' and Clark Kent aka Superman) but followed his heart and an English rose named Anne to the UK in the mid 1980s. Charles is now the Press and PR Manager at Bournemouth University where, he says, 'amazing things happen every day'.
Samantha Polley and Katherine Bryan-Merrett from Portland Arts Centre in Dorset
Portland Arts Centre Directors Samantha Polley, who is an event photographer but specializes in landscape and wildlife photography and Katherine Bryan-Merrett, a self taught portrait artist, got together and founded Portland's first centre for the arts in 2009, opening the doors in January 2010. The ambitious project is still unfolding as they are planning on facilitating a wide range of art forms, and the space is still in need of development.
Cherry Barlow - Conserving Wild Birds of Prey and their Habitats
I’m the chair of the Dorset & South Somerset Grp. A keen naturalist/birdwatcher & conservationist. I’m also a volunteer response driver for Secret World Wildlife rescue centre in Somerset.I grew up in the New Forest where as a child I was inspired by a flock of Waxwings that visited our garden in Winter of 1963. I keep captive bred Barn &Tawny Owls for educational purposes & enjoy taking them to schools etc.
